As previously stated, your dog can eat asparagus raw or cooked. Because dogs’ digestive systems are designed to break down and absorb meat, raw vegetables can be difficult for them to digest. When they eat food that is hard on their stomach, it causes diarrhea, vomiting, gas, and even a stomachache. It is not advisable to feed raw asparagus to your dog, just as it is not advisable for humans. This has nothing to do with taste (though if your dog’s taste buds are highly developed, expect them to literally stick their nose up in the air). Because the stalks are tough and chewy when they’re raw, this is the case. Dogs are more likely to swallow them whole rather than chewing them. Choking could occur as a result of this. Raw asparagus has its own set of health benefits. This vegetable is packed with vitamins and minerals, some of which may be broken down by heat during preparation. Asparagus, for example, can lose up to 52% of its Vitamin C content when cooked. Furthermore, blanching asparagus in water can degrade the vegetable’s essential amino acids.
