Socialize your Sheepadoodle at an early age and continue to socialize throughout his life! Teach him that other animals, strangers, and friends/family are good things and not potential threats to worry about. If your big fellow isn’t worried someone will break into your home or means you harm and isn’t constantly on a watchful guard, they are much less likely to want to bark.

Sheepadoodles as Watch Dogs?
Sheepadoodles are wonderful family dogs that love attention and children. They’re exceptionally playful and sweet, and enjoy the company of other dogs. While they can become good watch dogs with the right training, they’re typically a little more mellow than breeds developed specifically for guarding the home.
Are Sheepadoodles Aggressive?
Sheepadoodles are easy to train and highly intelligent! They make great dogs for first-time dog owners as they are friendly, easy going, and when socialized properly, non-aggressive.
Sheepadoodles Background
Sheepadoodles do enjoy the company of other dogs and taking part in play time at dog parks. However, given the sheepadoodles’ herding background, they occasionally have a tendency to nip and herd small animals and children, so keep an eye on them at dog parks that allow small dogs and large dogs to mingle.
Family and Bonding
Sheepadoodles make great family pets, despite their size. They love to be with their owners, playing or cuddling up on the sofa. You can usually find a Sheepadoodle as their owner’s shadow.

Sheepadoodles are extremely friendly and usually are not reported to take their temperament from the Poodle side. They are early and quick learners. Hospitable to both friends and strangers, they may be overly enthusiastic; if not trained well they may tend to jump up — which can be a slight concern if they are on the larger side. They are extremely easy to train and eager to please.

Sheepadoodles as a Pack Animal
Sheepadoodles are often compared to Bernedoodles, which are a mix between a poodle and a Bernese mountain dog. Bernedoodles have a similar giant teddy bear vibe: big fluffy paws, shaggy faces, and furry, floppy ears. However, Bernedoodles come in a greater variety of colors and share more of the Bernese mountain dog’s personality traits: They tend to be more energetic and protective.
Physical Traits
The Standard Sheepadoodle, on the other hand, will typically be 50 pounds or more, standing 21 inches and taller. Both sizes of Sheepadoodles have similar personalities; size is the main distinguisher between mini and standard sheepadoodles. Their typical life-span is 12 to 15 years.
